Keep On Keeping On

“But you, dear friends, must continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. And continue to pray as you are directed by the Holy Spirit. Live in such a way that God’s love can bless you as you wait for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy is going to give you. Show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. There are still others to whom you need to show mercy, but be careful that you aren’t contaminated by their sins.” Jude 17-23

These verses from Jude encourage us to continue building our foundation of faith not just for ourselves, but for those who God places in our lives. We are living in a time when the majority of those we come in contact with are not Christians. Therefore,’ we must know God’s Word and be able to discern his voice at all times. We must know that we are walking in God’s truth.  We must live a life worthy of Christ. Our witness is for his glory!

We must continue on in the Word of God even when circumstance, momentary weakness and pain try to detour us. We can not quit meeting with godly friends because we’re waiting for a day of less stress and better timing. The time is now! Why? Because all around us people are in peril of eternal damnation. There are those who do not know Christ and their eternity looms in the balance. We need to pray in the power of the Holy Spirit for their salvation. It’s also those who know the Lord, but have failed to give him their entire heart who are in jeopardy of falling away and hardening their hearts to the point that they can no longer hear his call. Those who are weary need to be encouraged and built up in their faith. We need to scoop them up in our arms and allow Christ’s love to be poured on them. Those who are idle in their faith need a friend to walk along with them and guide them back into the fold.  Do not cast anyone to the wolves. No one is of less value to the Lord than another. Remember it is by the very same grace that you are saved that God is calling to them. Your witness may be the tool Christ will use to bring them to his mighty salvation. You don’t need to worry about what to say, what to do, or where to go. Just live your life for God, and he will do the rest!

However, Jude does caution us to make sure we are surefooted and not placing ourselves in a position of compromise. When witnessing to others, we must model ourselves after Christ. He knew whose he was, and he changed people.
They didn’t change him! That’s why it is so important for us to remain on the Rock of Christ’s foundation.

Dear Friend,
Continue on in your faith journey. Continue reading God’s Word and putting it into practice. Meet with godly friends. Find an accountability partner. Praise His holy name. Pray in the Spirit. Your witness is for the glory of your Lord, Jesus Christ.

Do not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time you will reap a harvest if you do not give up. Galatians 6:9

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8
