Listen!

Pay close attention to what you hear.  The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given - and you will receive even more.
Mark 4:24

When you read the bible do you just read and move on or do you stop and take time to listen?  God uses the bible to speak to us and to show us important things for our life.  When we read His Word it is our chance to listen to Him speak directly to us.  Don't just skim through long chapters or skip over the things you already know.  God has a beautiful way of putting just the right words in front of you at just the right time.  From now on think of your bible reading as your conversation with God and take time to listen to what He is telling you.  This scripture above also relates to our prayer time.  Instead of always being the one talking make sure you are pausing and breathing in the quiet, listening to God's still small voice.  He wants to guide you and show you which path to take but he requires that we listen.  As you begin to understand more, and your perspective begins to change, God will be faithful to give you more wisdom and more direction.  But dear friend, don't just listen and let His commands fall at your feet.  Listening to God often requires action.  Part of gaining new wisdom is following His commands and doing what He asks of you.  You may not understand what God is saying or requesting but as you enter into His call you soon learn a whole lot more than you ever thought possible.  Are you ready to gain wisdom and start working for the Lord?  Then open your bible and begin a new journey with God as your tour guide.
