Defeated or not?

"The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways... The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them." Deuteronomy 28:7, 25

God's love for the Israelites led him to lead them into battles on the way to the promised land. Through the battles they were able to see his power and might. They had opportunity after opportunity to draw closer to the Lord and deepen their faith. They simply had to trust and obey.
but this was hard for them, as it is for us today.
God gives us the same choice he gave the Israelites. Choose him, obey his commands, remain in him and we will be victorious. However, we must fight our battles in full armor, surrendered to the leadership of the Lord!
However this scripture tells us that the opposite is also true; A heart that has wandered from God will find defeat at every turn. We must daily, momentarily surrender to his leadership, lest we be scattered before our enemies.
I ask you today, do you have a reverent, holy fear of God? Do you understand that he is just and his command to love him with all your heart, soul, and mind has reward and consequence?

Lord, draw us into you today. Give us humble hearts that enable us to surrender to your Lordship lest we are defeated before our enemies. In your name we pray. Amen
