For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, with all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. Then you will be able to live as the Lord wants and will always do what pleases him. Your lives will produce all kinds of good deeds, and you will grow in your knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength which comes from his glorious power, so that you may be able to endure everything with patience. And with joy give thanks to[a] the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light. He rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safe into the kingdom of his dear Son, by whom we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven.
1 Colossians 1:9-10
Praying specifics is great if you know what those are but so often we know a friend needs prayer but we aren't exactly sure what to pray. Of course we can simply say to God "Your will be done", but another angle could be to pray God's word straight from scripture. Today I ask you to pray this passage, from Colossians, and apply the name of the person or people you are praying for. It is a beautiful prayer covering so much. It never limits God to specifics, and His word will never come back void (Isaiah 55:11), so you are sure to get answers to your prayers! Pray this for your pastors, government leaders and officials, doctors, and anyone who you feel lead to lift up. You may not know their specific needs but you can help them so much by praying God's Word into their life. His word will do amazing things!
