Speak Boldly

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Acts 4:31 NIV

Have you ever wished you'd had the courage to speak up? Have you ever wished you'd had the courage to share your story of faith so that someone else could see God's hand at work? Well, guess what? YOU'VE GOT THE POWER!

Those who accept Christ as their Savior are given the gift of the Holy Spirit as their personal confidant, friend, and guide. This is the exact same Spirit that dwelt within Jesus. Jesus even tells the disciples that when he leaves there is a better gift coming in his place, the Spirit of God. The Spirit is a 24/7 friend.

In this scripture from Acts we are told that the place where the disciples were meeting shook as the Spirit of God descended. I want to feel that power. I want to proclaim the goodness of my God boldly! Regardless of circumstance, God is great! And the Spirit of God within us is ready to proclaim His goodness. The Spirit comes with power! We should not reign the Spirit in, but rather be open to its leading.

Each day let us begin by turning our own desires over to the Lord only to be replaced by the Spirit of God. Let us pray for the Spirit to fill us and move within and through us. Let us proclaim the goodness of our God boldly and without fear!

Dear Lord,
I want to be a vessel for your Spirit to work in and through. Empty me of myself so that I am ready at all times to follow your Spirit's leading. Teach me to sense your prompting and to respond eagerly and boldly. Thank you for this beautiful gift! Amen
