"Rescue the perishing; don't hesitate to step in and help. If you say, "Hey, that's none of my business," will that get you off the hook? Someone is watching you closely, you know- Someone not impressed with weak excuses." Proverbs 24:11-12 MSG
"I don't know him very well, but I hate to hear he's doing that. It's just too bad."
"Yes, I heard their marriage was in trouble. It's so sad."
"She used to walk so closely with the Lord. I don't' know what's happened to her."
"He's always been a trouble maker, I'm not surprised by where he's at today."
You've heard these statements, along with a host of others, justifying the right to keep one's distance from certain situations. But Friends, these simply won't hold water when we stand before our Lord and account for our actions (or lack there of).
Christ's purpose is to save the lost. He left his seat of royalty next to God almighty. He took on flesh, endured every temptation, underwent every form of persecution, and bore the weight of every sin that ever was or ever will be. He sacrificed everything so that each human being would have the opportunity to receive salvation, forgiveness, and the grace of God.
So, who do we think we are to decide who we will or will not reach out to in their time of need? Of course God called me to talk to them! They are his children. They are lost and hurting. We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, God in us. Therefore we are to reach out to them. Now, what we are to say or do will be determined by the Spirit, but we must reach out! We must extend His love.
Determine today to pray about situations when they are brought to your attention. Then ask the Spirit to lead you. Step out in confidence and offer Christ's grace and love, even in the ugliest of ugly situations. They are your business… because they are His children!
