Recovery Time

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

As Aimee and I discuss the situations in our lives, we so often find ourselves saying, “I just wrote about that on the blog, and here I am struggling with it again.” We want to be real and honest with you because in doing so, we hope to encourage you in your walk. We all falter, flounder, and fail. But as Christians we have something that other people don’t have and that is knowledge of God’s grace! So, we pick ourselves up by the grace of God and continue on in this journey.

As GFF’s we find ourselves making a common statement and that is this: “Our recovery time is shorter!” What that means is when we make a mistake, wander, sin, or miss an opportunity we no longer take weeks or often even days to make things right with Jesus or any other people involved in the situation. When our focus comes off Jesus, we get back on track more quickly each time. We are training ourselves to hear the word of God and our hearts hurt when we are out of step with His will. We want our recovery time to continue to shorten! So, we get into the Word so we know what to do to correct the situation and how to better handle it the next time it arises. Also, we are honest with each other so that we have accountability. And we pray for ourselves, each other and together!
Wherever you are in your walk, be encouraged! The fact that you are walking with God is beautiful. Know that you will struggle, mess up, and wander because you are human. But watch your recovery time! It will become shorter and shorter the longer you walk with Jesus! You will recognize the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and you will respond more quickly each time.

Blessings!
