To Be Holy

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 14-15

God calls us to be holy. So, what is ‘holy’? To be holy means to be sacred, set apart for God and his purposes. To be holy means to be pure in thought, word, and deed. To be holy means to be Christ-like in all ways.
Because we are God’s chosen people, we are to think, look and act differently than those in the world who do not know the Lord. In order to have this characteristic, we must continually deny our own desires and submit to the desires of God.
Today I’m asking God to search me and show me where I’m being less than holy. I want to know clearly where I’m falling short. This is something we need to do regularly in order to keep ourselves pure and useable before the Lord. Today are you willing to let God search you, change you, and make you holy?

Dear Father,
You have created me to be holy. I am made in your image and it is your call on my heart to live a life of holiness. Show me today where I am not in right standing with you. Empower me through your Spirit to change what needs to be changed.
In your precious name I pray,

Amen
